CLAIM CINEMA

My name is Ryan Busch and I am the mind behind Claim Cinema. My interest from the very beginning was dreaming about living in the mountains making films about professional athletes skiing big lines. That dream is not concluded, however, over the years I have molded my vision into something else.  The Great Lakes region is home and they have influenced my work in more ways than my young self could have realized. With that being said, I have been lucky enough to get a sneak peak into mountain life. Working multiple winters at a handful of the legendary resorts, interning with an outdoor production company, and spending a winter in Alaska. Yes, just the winter, living on an airstrip editing content for a YouTube channel. All of these experiences were very limited because I would chase back to Michigan for the summer were I'm from and attended film school at Northern Michigan University. After graduation, three of my best mates went for a paddle, a big paddle, where I proved to myself I could handle adventure film making. That trip changed my life and I owe everything to the crew and what we accomplished. From there for the next five years I found myself working alongside Great Lakes Outreach Media, out of Muskegon, Michigan. David J. Ruck changed the way I approach a story and how to even conceptualize wearing multiple hats. I hope David and I can collocate in the near future because the work we were involved with taught me more than film school. Those projects altered my mission as a film-maker. The future will continue to be challenging but it is starting to become more clear on a specific void that needs to be filled. Stay tuned....
